Horse breeds were developed hundreds of years ago to allow a certain breed of horse to excel at a certain task. Lighter, shorter and muscular horses were developed for horse racing purposes as well as riding and heavier stocky horses were developed purely for farming and agriculture purposes. |
In most parts of the world horses are solely used for recreational activities and sporting competitions but there are still places in the world which use horses for working purposes and tasks which require pulling and carrying.
