Horse Boarding

Introduction to Horse Boarding

If you are considering purchasing a horse or you are a horse owner, but do not have the room to house a horse then you may want to consider horse boarding. Horse boarding is offered by farms and ranches all across America. Horses will be well looked after, trained and sheltered for as long as necessary.

Riders and owners can visit their horses and take advantage of riding tracks located on the farm or ranch. Horses are welcomed to stay as long as possible for a monthly fee. The monthly fee includes meals, health checks, stables, training and grooming. If a stable is not necessary then the horses will be kept in a paddock amongst other horses.

Horse Stables All farms and ranches have experienced and helpful staff who will be looking after your horse. Staff will have all been trained in the many aspects of horse boarding and caring. Horses will love the attention they receive during their time boarding and the interaction with other horses is delightful for development and socialization.

Boarding Stables

Boarding Stables are located amongst natural rural bush land settings. Generally these settings are part of acres of horse farms and ranches. They will cost approximately $300 and up a month. The stables are fitted with the wall to wall matting, turn outs and attached runs, and blanketing which is extra. Horses will each have their own private boarding stable.

All horse boarding stables are cleaned daily. The majority of stables are at least 12 x 12 in size with the upper half of the stall being timber and lower part being plastic. All boarding stables consider ventilation and socialization for the horses whilst they are in their care.

Horse Stables Boarding stables will generally feature riding treks, rivers, large trees and paddocks for the public, riders and owners to enjoy. Boarding stables offer training lessons during the horse’s time at the boarding stable for a small extra fee. The boarding stables acreage is generally fenced off and safe for horses to wander around and get some exercise.

Horse Boarding Contract

A Horse Boarding Contract is held between the horse owner and farm or ranch in which the horse will be boarding. The horse boarding contracts specify exactly what will occur whilst the horse is in the care of the boarding place. Contracts are necessary for both owners and farms as it gives horse owners the opportunity to explain to the farm what special and general requirements the horse will need in their care.
Contract

Horse boarding contracts will contain the following vital information:

  • How long the horse will stay
  • Whether a private stable is required
  • Whether a general stable is required
  • The amount of food the horse will be fed
  • Grooming
  • Training Lessons
  • Exercise
  • Trail walks

The farm owner and staff that will be looking after the horse have the option of changing the contract under the supervision of the horse owner. Extra activities during the horses boarding stay will be charged to the owner. Temporary contracts are available for those horses who are only boarding temporarily such as 1 week to 2 weeks.
